Business hours are a quiet but real AI-visibility factor for urgency-driven queries. When someone asks an assistant something time-sensitive — is there a plumber open now near me, or late-night urgent care in a given city — assistants that pull live local data (often through Google's or Bing's business listings) can weigh whether you're currently open, and an accurate, complete hours block makes you eligible to be named in that moment. The signal only fires for genuinely time-bound questions; for a plain best-in-town search with no urgency, reviews, entity clarity and citations still decide. What hurts you is bad data: missing hours, hours that disagree between your site, Google Business Profile and directories, or no emergency-service or round-the-clock indication when you actually offer it. The move that works is keeping accurate, consistent hours everywhere, marking special and holiday hours, surfacing after-hours or emergency availability plainly in your content and schema, and making sure your listings agree. It won't win you the general shortlist, but for open-now moments it's the difference between being eligible and being invisible.
