Podcast appearances can genuinely help AI visibility, but almost entirely through their text footprint rather than the audio itself, which is the step most people skip. A model cannot easily listen to an episode, but it can read a show-notes page, a transcript, a guest bio, and the backlinks and brand mentions those pages carry — so a podcast mention becomes an AI signal only when it produces crawlable, indexable text that names you and ideally links to you. Done right, a good interview creates several durable assets at once: an authoritative third-party page mentioning your business and expertise, a link that strengthens your entity, and quotable statements that associate your name with your topic. The move is to treat every appearance as a content play: ask the host for show notes and a transcript that include your name and a link, publish your own episode recap page, and make sure your site clearly backs up the expertise the episode claims. A mention with no crawlable text behind it is a nice moment that the models will never see.
