A Mastodon presence does a little for AI visibility, and mostly in an indirect way. Because Mastodon is open and federated, much of its content is publicly crawlable text rather than locked behind a login, so posts that clearly state who you are and what you do can be read by assistants and add another thin, third-party-hosted mention of your business. But the weight is low: no single Mastodon instance carries the authority of a major platform, content is fragmented across servers, and a model isn't going to recommend you because you posted on a Fediverse instance. Where it earns its keep is as one small, consistent identity signal among many — a complete profile with your real business name, category, location and a link to your canonical site, matching what your other listings say. Treat Mastodon like any minor social profile: fine to claim and keep accurate for the extra consistent mention, not a channel to invest real effort in for AI visibility specifically.
