How often do AI assistants update their recommendations?

It depends entirely on whether the assistant is answering from memory or from the live web. When a model answers from its training data alone, its view of you can be months old and changes to your site will not show until the next training cycle. But most buying questions now trigger live retrieval — ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews fetch current pages — and there the picture updates as fast as the underlying sources are re-crawled, which can be days to weeks for a healthy site. The practical takeaway: to influence the fresh, retrieval-based answers that matter for commerce, make your site crawlable and your facts current, and help the engines re-index you quickly after changes.
